Been Slack

Yeah, I have been slack. It's been a while. Lot going on. Two big events recently. Kevin and Christine were married on March 26 in Easley. Pretty wedding. Tucker stole the show as the ring bearer at 18 months old. The next day he was baptized at the same Easley Methodist Church where the wedding had been the afternoon before. Wonderful weekend.

Construction is beginning on the farm house to which I hope to retire. We are doing a lot of upgrading to the 1912 house in which my Mom and four uncles were born. It is the W. J. Stevenson homeplace, where my grandparents lived until their deaths, his in 1977 and hers in 1978. Mom has maintained the home since then, but we have only used it for special occasions---Thanksgiving family get-togethers, Shannon's/Tim's wedding rehearsal dinner, other festive events---cousin Dennis' wedding and later, on a sad occasion, after his fatal motorcycle accident, for his memorial service.

Have not had much time to enjoy the Harley. Cousin Lee Stevenson and I made one warm March afternoon journey around the Pee Dee, from Lake City to Johnsonville to Hemingway to Indiantown to Stuckey to Kingstree to Manning (where he lives) and then me back to Florence. Really great ride. My odometer showed 175 miles that day.....

Finally got the Merita Bread truck to Winnsboro but not much progress since then. Getting it painted is the next big step. Still trying to remove the Merita signage. Heat helps, so it works better on a hot, sunny day but is still a slow and tedious process.

Was finally able to trade Christine's truck last weekend. She and Kevin were upside down on the loan and needed to get rid of it. Dodge dealer in Winnsboro came up with better deal than when I tried a month or so ago, so it is now their truck, and they can fight it out with City Financial (or Citi Financial). Will NEVER recommend that bank. They were impossible to deal with. Really nasty to Kevin and Christine, and you know how we don't want anyone dissing our kids!

I now have one year, two months, three weeks and three days left to work, but, hey, who's counting? HA....

Am gonna try to be more punctual in posting to this site. We will see.......................pd
